Ça Coule de Source

My father-in-law lives in Divonne-les-Bains, a small french town known since the 19th century for its thermal baths and numerous natural sources. Water is omnipresent there and the different rivers and streams run through or along the streets. I was photographing the water’s presence in the town but was quickly drawn to capturing how Man works with or diverts the small rivers to His benefits. The streams are lined with dams, contraptions to catch fish or help them through difficult passages and man-created waterfalls. I was also interested in showing the proximity of the water to houses and apartment buildings.
