If you havent heard of Light Peak its a new technology that has been developed by Intel and backed by Apple (who calls it Thunderbolt) and is looking to bring super fast connection speeds of 10GB to consumers.
Apple has adopted this technology for its new Macbook Pro lineup which was announced on February 25th. The beauty of it is that you can connect a monitor and multiple devices such as a cameras, hard drives, etc. and in the future you might even be able to power devices through the port.
So the real big news is a rumor saying the yet unannounced Nikon D4 might support Light Peak technology. This means you will be able to transfer your pictures to your computer faster than ever before (20x faster than USB 2.0, 12x faster than FireWire 800 and 2x faster than USB 3.0).
I hope it's only a matter of time until all new devices are equipped with Light Peak or Thunderbolt.
