Shooting the Suspenders: great food for a good cause.
Holy smokes! When opening WordPress to type this post, I came to realize nearly 4 months have passed since I last posted something here. All lot has happened in these 4 months but that’s not why I came to write here. The reason I wanted to post to my blog today is because of an improvized shoot I did yesterday in collaboration with We Like L.A.
I’ve been in contact with Brian —the guy behind We Like LA— for a few months now and when he called me the other day asking about this shoot, I was immediately on board. The idea was to photograph Angelo and Thomas, two great human beings with a simple dream: suspended meals.
I’m sure you’ve all heard of the suspended coffee. A concept supposedly born in Naples, Italy where people order a coffee for themselves and a suspended coffee. When a person in need comes in and asks for a coffee, they can have a suspended one. Simple, effective and humane. Well, it’s based on that simple idea that Angelo & Thomas call themselves The Suspenders: a food truck that serves hearty Italian food and allows customers to buy a suspended meal for someone in need.
They came over to our place so we could sample the food and it was delicious. Lasagna and squash noodles with meatballs. All served in an aluminum container; food truck style.
Angelo and Thomas are on an awesome adventure and I wish them all the luck in the world.
Also, stayed tuned because I might be shooting them again in the very near future.
