Behind the scenes: trash the dress.

I don’t shoot many weddings but when I do it’s because the couple and I are on the same wave length and I know the wedding will be loads of fun.

That’s how I met Kristell  & Dominique. They had heard about me a couple years ago and contacted me enquiring about their wedding. When I met with them, we immediately connected. They are easy-going and laid back. Their wedding was a year ago but we just only got around to shoot the trash the dress session. Kristell & Dominique got dressed up again and fought the beautiful but cold afternoon in the mountains.

For this shoot, although I would have liked to take a few shots with strobes, I figured it would be wiser to go for natural light. We weren’t sure if we were actually going to need to go up the mountain in Chamonix or if we could manage at the bottom. In the end, we stayed in the village surroundings and I’m glad I decided to shoot natural light as there was a lot  going on and I’m pretty sure moving lights around would have slowed the process.

This is my first behind the scenes video. Anka (who I thank immensely for shooting some of the footage) got me a GoPro Hero3: Silver Edition for Christmas and it’s a lot of fun to use. Let me know how you like it. Depending on the feedback, I might do more of these…

Anyway, without any further ado, I present you the video.

Just in case you were wondering, my legs and bum were soaked after the shoot but it was well worth it!

Cheers, josh
