REVIEW: Editorial work for AcidMoto.ch

BMW S1000 RRIn order to work on and perfect my sports & action photography skills, I accepted some editorial work for AcidMoto.ch, a french speaking Swiss blog specialized in motorcycles.

Thanks to them, I had the opportunity to shoot:

  • Motocross: the MX2 and MX3 European and World championships took place in Geneva’s «Bout du Monde» on September 4th and 5th. It was a great experience and being inside the ropes definitely allowed me to shoot with some unique angles a different approach.

  • Exclusive gear and nice motorcycles: AcidMoto.ch were the first European journalists to get there hands on the then new Shoei Qwest, a very nice helmet. I also photographed some nice bikes for them and sometimes in some extreme situations!

  • Course de côte de Verbois: every year in October in Geneva a big race is organized in Verbois and once again, I had a pass to go shoot inside the ropes. Although the weather was terribly wet —it made for some good falls— and cold, I had a lot of fun shooting it.

I learned a lot especially about shooting a vehicle from another moving vehicle and managing constant changing light. It can be pretty challenging. All in all, I had a great time on these shoots! Although I must admit the focus was more on the performance and/or technical specificities of the products than on the artistic side. Nevertheless, I tried to add my touch to the final pictures.
